        Rip's impressions

A swell read, just a swell read. Seriously, Hemingway's first work, which is all his own. Very outdoorsy. A great book to give a boy scout.

The strange thing was, he said, how they screamed every night at midnight. I do not know why they screamed at that time. We were in the harbor and they were all on the pier and at midnight they started screaming.

        literary tidbits

Hemingway, really, was such a prick. He pissed on all his friends who helped him make it in his career: Sherwood Anderson, F. Scott Fitzgerald, and his wives. It astounds me that A Moveable Feast is touted as such a great book. Hemingway demeans all these people who can't defend themselves, because they were already dead.
