Rip's Impressions
"I have been exploring Wordwaves with pleasure. I admire the fused dictions of 'a Japanese garden of human ash,' also the poignant accuracy of 'Dream Tigers,' and I could go on--" Pulitzer Prize winning Poet Richard Wilbur (His page can be visited on this site)

Dream Tigers
Invited to the Everglades
I do not want to go.
Traveling in the mind
is more exciting
than an Allligator's
Green-flecked eye.
I go, but I know
when I get back
dream tigers
Will be waiting
flexing muscles
sniffing Freon air.
They pace
in the cramped corridors
of the mind
dreaming
wet leaves & morning smoke.
They push hard
against the bars,
back & forth
in that relentless swaying
we are all a part of
when we can no longer stay.
